David Rhys

NYB Repetiteur(NYB alumnus)

Born in Kent, David trained locally and danced for many seasons with NYB before going to the Royal Ballet Upper School. He danced with both the Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet before graduating and joining Matthew Bourne's New Adventures performing in his acclaimed production of Swan Lake.

David also enjoyed many West End credits, not least his year in the hit musical Grease playing, amongst other characters, Eugene.

David has worked extensively as a dancer with the Royal Opera, Garsington Opera Festival and many other cabarets and pantomimes.

He retrained as a teacher on the Professional Dancers Teachers Diploma course with the Royal Academy of Dance, gaining Distinction, and has now taught for them on many of their teaching and summer courses.
David has been on the teaching faculty of Tring Park School for the Performing Arts for seven years and has spent the last six as Children's Repetiteur for the English National Ballet on their productions, including Nutcracker, Le Corsaire (both on tour and at the London Colliseum), Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet (both 'in the round' at the Royal Albert Hall).

David coordinates and runs the Kick Start Boys course at Tring Park
More recently David has directed and choreographed many musicals, and is currently working on a production of Evita.

David was a proud Games Maker at the London 2012 Olympics, presenting as a Medal Bearer in the victory ceremonies and is also a qualified RFU referee.
