Anna Meadmore

A graduate of Elmhurst Ballet School (1977), and The Royal Ballet School Teachers’ Training Course (1991), Anna’s varied career has encompassed performing, teaching and choreography.  She was awarded an MA in Dance Studies from the University of Surrey in 1997.

Anna joined the staff of The Royal Ballet School in 1992, where she currently teaches on the Upper School Foundation Degree course, and manages the archival Special Collections.  For The Royal Ballet School, she has written A True Heritage: the story of The Royal Ballet School and Companies (2010); A Ballet History Timeline (published online in 2017); and also edited the White Lodge Ballet History Timeline (published online in 2019).  She contributed to Ninette de Valois: Adventurous Traditionalist (Cave & Worth [eds]: Dance Books, 2012), and Robert Helpmann: the Many Faces of a Theatrical Dynamo, which she also co-edited, with Richard Cave (Dance Books, 2018).

Anna is a Patron and Trustee of National Youth Ballet, with which she has been associated since 1991.  She was the founding teacher of the National Youth Ballet Workshops in Schools programme, and has choreographed several ballets for the Company.

Anna is currently a doctoral candidate at Royal Holloway, University of London, researching the career of Ninette de Valois, Founder of The Royal Ballet School and Companies.
