Our vision is that young people will create the ballet of the future.

Malcolm Macfarlane

Malcolm Macfarlane became Chair in 2016 having previously been on the Board of Trustees since 1999.  He has worked as a solicitor in the City of London for over 30 years and is currently head of the Real Estate Group at the City law firm of Wedlake Bell LLP where he is also a member of the firm’s Board.

He has always had a love of ballet but his interest grew when his daughter Sophie danced with NYB for five seasons.  During this time he struck up a firm friendship with our Founder and Artistic Director Jill Tookey who asked him to join the Board.  With Jill’s infectious drive and enthusiasm for everything, he couldn’t refuse!

Malcolm is married with three children and apart from spending time with his family, his leisure time is taken up mostly with sport.

Malcolm is also a trustee of the St Clement Danes Holborn Estate Charity, which supports St Clement Danes Academy School in Chorleywood, alms-houses in Sydenham and the poor and needy in Westminster.
