There are many pathways and access points to National Youth Ballet.  Our workshops and masterclasses offer a taste of life in our company.  They are intended to enhance your experience and can take place independently or during our Residential Performance Company.  Depending on the workshop they are either bespoke days or weeks, and will equally equip you with a broad range of skills and develop your performance techniques.  Some are age specific whilst others might be theme based.  Some focus on a style of dance and others on technique.

Open to anyone with an interest in dance they might be an opportunity to find out more and see if you would like to audition for our Residential Performance Company.  Or just be another feather in your bow.  They all embrace the joy of performing.

In 2018, our Mini Ballet Summer Workshop for dancers aged 10-14 years was designed to give an insight into National Youth Ballet.  Our dancers worked alongside a professional choreographer to create a short ballet inspired by the award winning children’s book Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls by Elena Favilli.

Masterclasses

We organise masterclasses with professional dancers and choreographers.  Because we want you to get to know us properly, you’ll be treated professionally, be expected to work hard and build on your strengths.  And you’ll take away a sense of achievement and fun.

In 2017 we organised masterclasses with James Streeter, Soloist, English National Ballet, Ruth Brill, First Artist, Birmingham Royal Ballet and Jonathan Payn, First Soloist, Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Our American in Paris masterclass in 2018 was taken by original West End cast member Katie Deacon.  Participants were taught inspiring repertoire from this multi-award winning show.

For 2020 we are excited to offer an online programme of workshops and masterclasses.

Fees and Booking

Course Fees:  £265.  We ask students to bring their own lunch as required.

Applications to our Mini Ballet Workshop are now closed.  All places on this workshop will not be fully confirmed until payment has been received.  In the event of a withdrawal from any of our activities, no refunds are given.
