Joe Powell-Main announced as first NYB ambassador
National Youth Ballet is delighted to welcome Joe Powell-Main as our first NYB ambassador! Joe is an amazing ballet dancer with a breadth of experience across a number of dance genres. He is a fabulous role model for our young dancers and we are delighted to welcome him to the NYB team!
As part of his role Joe will be working with NYB to explore how ballet can be taught and choreographed in a more inclusive way. He will be leading mentoring sessions with the NYB Beyond Ballet® All In! choreographers and delivering a session during our All In! activity this summer exploring how ballet choreography can be translated and developed for different dancers.
Jo Meredith, NYB’s Creative Director said:
“Joe is one of the most musical and expressive dancers who I have ever seen perform, his exploration and development of ballet technique and choreography is so exciting and I am very much looking forward to working with him on all our future projects.”
Barbara Palczynski, NYB’s Chief Executive:
“It is a huge privilege to welcome Joe to the NYB team. I am firmly committed to nurturing a more inclusive culture in ballet and delighted to have Joe’s expertise as both a highly skilled practitioner for All In! and an advocate for all our future work.”
