All In! Young Dancer Call-Out
NYB believes that ballet is for everyone. We aim to challenge perceptions about what ballet can be, who it is for and how to reach the widest audience.
All In! is a new strand of NYB, which explores how ballet can be taught and choreographed in a more inclusive way. We are looking for a small group of ballet dancers based in the south east of England who are aged between 14 and 21 to take part in an exciting, creative and inclusive four days at The Dance Space, South East Dance in Brighton between 10am and 3pm Tuesday 29th August – Friday 1st September.
We will be creating a new ballet with Parable Dance and their dancers.
As a participant you will:
- learn about inclusive practice and develop your skills as a dancer
- meet and dance with new dancers who are disabled or neurodivergent
- work with NYB Creative Director Jo Meredith and Parable Dance Artistic Director Natasha Britton
- work with three of NYB 2023-24 Beyond Ballet® choreographers, Ross Black and Hannah George
The week will include:
- Inclusive Ballet Class
- Inclusive Ballet Repertoire Class
- A Creative Ballet session with Parable dancers and the Beyond Ballet® choreographers
- A performance on Friday 1 September in the Jamie Watton Creation Space at South East Dance.
The cost to participate in this project is £160.
To express your interest in the project please email natalie.haslam@nationalyouthballet.org by 9am on Monday 24th July 2023 with answers to the following questions. These can be submitted verbally via video as described below or in a written format.
