Wai Sum Chong
Training/Education: Wai Sum Chong is a accompanist, dance musician and music educator. Trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she was a pioneering student on their ground-breaking Pianist for Dance Course and went on to work with Scottish Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, The Purcell School, Elmhurst Ballet School, Midland Theatre Ballet (Musical Director 2012 – 2018) and the GradPro ballet programmes.
Professional Experience: The arrival of her son kicked off Wai Sum’s interest in early childhood education and prompted the creation of Rhythm Circle, her playful and multi-sensory approach to music education. Rhythm Circle’s workshops and projects have been supported by the Attenborough Arts Centre, The Spark Arts for Children, The Play House and the Arts Council of England.
Wai Sum runs a thriving piano teaching practice in Sutton Coldfield where she nurtures the spirit of critical thinking and exploratory musical play whilst armed with a collection of highlighters and various sound-making objects. Follow her musical adventures at www.rhythmcircle.co.uk
