Our Impact

Our Impact

In the last five years National Youth Ballet has reached over 1,836 young people across our programmes. Every year, we bring together over 500 young people through creative, joyful and inclusive ballet activities. We remove socio-economic barriers to access by providing subsidised activity, bursaries, Pat Prime Awards and travel bursaries.

Our alum make up 10% of the professional dancers and choreographers currently working in major British ballet companies.

Our participants tell us that the experience of taking part in NYB activity has changed them. They leave feeling more confident, more creative, and more connected to themselves and to others.

In 2024/25, 94% of participants self-identified a personal change and 91% said NYB supported their development as a dancer.

In 2021 most of our participants came from London and the South East. Today, our national reach has grown well beyond recognition, with strong growth across the North West, West Midlands, South West and other regions. Many of the young people we work with have never encountered NYB before. This shows how important a strategic approach to outreach really is.

The most powerful measure of our impact happens beyond the studio. Young people tell us that our Moving Minds programme has given them tools for life: greater confidence, a more positive mindset, and a relationship with their own wellbeing that many had never had before.

Emerging artists leave Beyond Ballet® with the networks and skills to build sustainable careers. Over the last year, 90% of artists rated their experience 5 out of 5 and 100% agreed it improved their employability.

Through our CPD programme, the NYB approach reaches teachers and practitioners too, who carry it forward long after our programmes end.

Help us reach more young dancers.
