Alice O’Brien

As a student Alice trained with King Slocombe School of Dance and Tring Park School for the Performing Arts where she graduated in 2020 with a Trinity Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance. Since graduating Alice has been freelancing as a dancer and choreographer. Most recently dancing as a soloist in the Premier League’s end of season promotional video ‘The Stage Remains’. Alice has also spent the last few months choreographing for Tring Park’s senior dance show directed by Antony Dowson and Lorraine Jones.

In Alice’s time at Tring Park she won the Tring Park Choreography Cup in 2018 and 2019 and in her 3rd year was given the opportunity to showcase two pieces of work for Encore Dance Company’s UK tour. She also had the opportunity to work with various creative artist including Anthony Van Laast CBE, Ruth Brill, Etta Murfitt and Simeon Qsyea.

Alice has been a part of the NYB performance company for six seasons, from 2014 to 2019, dancing in various works, choreographed by industry professionals such as Christopher Hampson, Sophie Laplane, Charlie Brittain and Jonathan Payne. During her time with National Youth Ballet Alice was awarded the ‘Group Choreography’ award in 2018 and the ‘Najinska Award for Outstanding Female Choreographer’ in 2019.

Alice is looking forward to continuing her association with National Youth Ballet as part of the Beyond Ballet® programme. For Alice, NYB has been such a massive part of her professional development as a dancer and the opportunity to continue that as a choreographer is a great honour.
