Ciara Clayton

Training/Education: Ciara (they/them), originally from Lancashire, trained in Leeds and now based in London as a freelance dance artist, working across ballet and contemporary dance in a variety of settings. 

Professional Experience: As a Rehearsal Director for National Youth Ballet since 2017, Ciara has worked alongside with renowned choreographers such as Miguel Altunaga, Louise Bennett, Sophie Laplane, Daniel Davidson, and Charlie Brittain. In addition to their directing work, they also manage National Youth Ballet’s social media, further contributing to the organisation’s digital presence.

Ciara’s experience includes Rehearsal Directing and Assistant Choreographer roles in works such as Rachel Clarke’s CODA, Daniel Phung’s Blowin’ in the Wind, and Sonia Sabri’s Same Same… But Different and Mughal Miniatures. They have also served as Rehearsal Director for the FABRIC CAT Scheme unders choreographer John William-Watson and Alleyne Dance.

Beyond their work as a rehearsal director and collaborator, Ciara is dedicated to teaching and nurturing the next generation of dancers. They teach at both the East and West Midlands CAT Schemes and Emil Dale Academy. As an associate artist for English National Ballet, Ciara delivers on various programmes, including ENB’s Youth Company, ENB’s Youth Co-nnect, Ballet Explored, Roadshow, and Ballet Club.
