Émilie Depauly-Viguié
Training/Education: An amateur ballet dancer since age 3, Émilie (she/her) first obtained a master’s degree in engineering. After a first career in the corporate world she decided to follow her dream, and retrained in costume construction.
Professional experience: Émilie has worked for the Royal Opera House, the Royal Ballet School, Scottish Ballet, and as a free lance tutu maker, as well as for the English National Opera, Grange Park Opera, and West End shows including Hamilton.
Although she has made a wide range of costumes, ballet costumes have a special place in her heart and she is never happier than in a theatre, surrounded by tutus. Work experience at the National Youth Ballet of Great Britain was her very first taste of the costume world which makes it very special to now be a permanent part of the organisation.
Her favourite part of the job is working with the young artists and watching them grow and develop.
Biggest inspiration: David Bowie for his ability to mix styles and influences and his freedom of mind.
