Jess Yeo

Training/Education: Jess (she/her) trained at London Contemporary Dance School (First Class BA (Hons) and the Cohan Scholarship), Northern School (MA(CDP)), Avant Garde 2 and The Place CAT. She holds distinction in Advanced 2 RAD Ballet.

Professional Experience: Jess is an apprentice dancer with Phoenix Dance Theatre, performing in their national tour of ‘Inside Giovanni’s Room’. Her performance highlights include ‘Fresh’ from The Place, La Villette (Paris), and ArtsCross (Taipei). During training, Jess performed works by Avant Garde, SAY and Liam Francis, and gained rehearsal directing experience with James Cousins Company.

Jess co-founded Milton Keynes Dance Theatre, where she choreographs, teaches, and produces full-length works in her hometown. She teaches and assists at The Place’s CAT, Phoenix Youth Academy and Rambert, sharing dance with people aged 2–70. Her choreography has featured nationally, including U.Dance (South East and Yorkshire).

Biggest Inspiration: “I am inspired by the inextricable link between dance and society: how can we dance to both reflect and challenge the world around us, in turn discovering more about ourselves?”
