Lachlan Monaghan

Training/Education: Lachlan Monaghan trained in Sydney, Australia at The McDonald before moving to The Royal Ballet Upper School.
Professional Experience: He joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2012 and became a Principal in 2023. His repertory includes Prince roles in The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake, Basilio in Don Quixote, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Colas in La Fille mal gardée. He also performed works by Jiri Kylian and recently was a guest artist with Acosta Danza in Carlos Acosta’s ‘Carmen.’
During his time dancing, Lachlan has developed a passion for photography, attempting to capturing unique moments of performances, alongside completing a BA Honours in Business Management.
Biggest Inspiration: Lachlan’s biggest inspiration would probably be quite simply, music, and the power it has to evoke emotion and ideas.
