Matt Nicholson

Matt (he/him) graduated from Bird College in 2014 and was a finalist for Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures Choreographer Award in 2015.  

Recent choreographic work includes: Beauty & The Beast Jordan Productions  (Central Theatre, Chatham), Not So Sweet Sixteen The Royal Ballet School,  White Lodge (Margot Fonteyn Theatre) Going The Distance Digital Comedy Play directed by Felicity Montagu (Co-produced by The Lawrence Batley  Theatre, Oxford Playhouse, The Dukes and The Watermill Theatre), Gene Kelly statue unveiling in collaboration with Patricia Ward Kelly Gene Kelly Legacy  (Leicester Square), Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs Qdos Entertainment  (Richmond Theatre, London), Heartless with the National Youth Ballet of Great Britain (Sadler’s Wells, London/Crescent Theatre, Birmingham) Associate  Choreographer to Liam Steel The Wizard of Oz (Birmingham Repertory  Theatre), AFRIKA(HLD Entertainment, Greece).  

Other credits as choreographer include: Illuminate for TUI Sentsatori Hotels around the globe, Romeo & Juliet Workshop, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, The British Theatre Academy’s production of Spring Awakening  (Stockwell Theatre, London) So Danca Fashion Show (Excel, London), Souls of  the Underworld (HLD Entertainment, Greece), Another Night’s Dream with the  National Youth Ballet of Great Britain (Sadler’s Wells, London/Crescent Theatre,  Birmingham). The International Festival of Quilts (Birmingham NEC) The Graham Webb Hair Show, London. DKProduction’s Dick Whittington (Compass Theatre,  Ickenham).  

Matt teaches ‘Professional Jazz’ at Pineapple Dance Studios weekly. He often  choreographs for Bird College, devising new work for the 3rd year Cre8 performances (Doreen Bird Foundation Theatre) Move it (Excel, London) and  Summer Shows (The Orchard Theatre, Dartford). Other choreography work  include: Laine Theatre Arts, Central School of Speech & Drama and Addict  Dance Academy.
