Sayaka Ichikawa
Training/Education: Sayaka studied at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, graduating with First Class Honours and training extensively in both classical and contemporary techniques.
Professional Experience: A former Senior Artist with Ballet Black until 2023, Sayaka performed a wide repertoire by choreographers including Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Arthur Pita, Cathy Marston, Christopher Hampson, Viviana Durante, and Will Tuckett. She has also appeared as a guest in principal roles with European ballet companies, English National Opera, Opera North, and American Ballet Theatre’s London tour. Most recently, she has worked as Assistant Choreographer to Mthuthuzeli November with The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Northern Ballet, Ballett am Rhein, and Ballet Black, while guest coaching at leading institutions including Central School of Ballet, Yorkshire Ballet Seminars, Ballet Black and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures.
Biggest Inspiration: My biggest inspiration is my mother. Her unwavering love and strength have guided me through my career as a dancer, motherhood, and now as a mentor shaping the next generation.
