Wai Sum Chong

Training/Education: Wai Sum’s versatility as a pianist has taken her on diverse journeys as an accompanist, dance musician and music educator. Trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she has worked with Scottish Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, The Purcell School, Midland Theatre Ballet (Musical Director 2012 – 2018) and the GradPro ballet programmes.

Professional Experience: Wai Sum is the founder-director of Rhythm Circle, a children’s music education initiative which uses multi-sensory approaches. She runs workshops and consultation sessions promoting sensory and playful music-making. In 2020, the Rhythm Circle Digital Games project was funded by the Arts Council of England to create online musical games friendly for neurodiverse young people.
