New dance film from English Heritage and National Youth Ballet

This month, we are delighted to launch our new dance film Chimes of Change, created in partnership with English Heritage and its youth engagement programme, Shout Out Loud.

Loosely inspired by Cinderella and shaped by wider themes of sustainability and the natural world, Chimes of Change was created in 2025 by National Youth Ballet Beyond Ballet® choreographers Grace Thompson and Anna Smith. The film is performed by disabled and non-disabled dancers from our NYB All in! Performance Company and was filmed on location at Kenilworth House.

This project builds on the success of our previous collaboration with English Heritage. Beyond the Plaques is an award winning dance film inspired by four extraordinary female pioneers: sculptor Eleanor Coade, author Frances Burney, poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning and astronomer Annie Maunder. The film celebrates creativity and endeavour, highlighting the need to amplify the voices of underrepresented women in history. It has been screened at film festivals around the world.

NYB All in! is a National Youth Ballet programme which explores how ballet can be created and taught in a more inclusive way, allowing more young dancers to access this beautiful art form.

Beyond Ballet® is an NYB initiative that supports emerging creative artists aged 18-25 from all areas of the theatre industry in the early stages of their professional careers, including choreographers, dance leaders, rehearsal directors and professionals working in lighting design, costume design and stage management.

Shout Out Loud is English Heritage’s national youth engagement program (ages 11-25) that empowers young people to explore, interpret and share untold stories from England’s past through creative projects.
