Ruby Picken

Training/Education: Ruby began professional training at Northern Ballet School in 2021, graduating with a Level 6 Diploma, before joining Emergence, the postgraduate dance company at the University of Salford.

Professional Experience: Following graduation from Emergence, Ruby completed a UK tour as part of the programme. She has since worked with ITV as a supporting artist, gaining experience in television and screen performance. Ruby is currently working towards her Matwork Pilates teaching qualification. Alongside her professional training, she also performed with the National Youth Ballet RPC  on several occasions from the age of 12!

Biggest Inspiration: Ruby’s greatest inspiration is her grandma, Sheila. After beginning dance at the age of 67, Sheila went on to perform alongside Ruby in her dissertation work. This experience deeply influenced Ruby’s artistic values, that dance is not limited by age or ability, but is rooted in expression, connection, and a genuine love of performance.
