Neus Gil Cortés
Training/Education: Neus (she/her) studied classical ballet at the Conservatory of Dance (Valencia) and Carmen Roche School (Madrid) and contemporary dance at Rotterdam Dance Academy, Codarts (Holland). Additional training includes Gaga Intensive (Tel Aviv).
Professional Experience: Neus danced for Dance Works Rotterdam (2006-2009). She was selected for the choreographic workshop and showcase One Night Dance by Dansateliers Rotterdam (2009). She then moved to UK to dance for National Dance Company Wales (2009-2013) and Hofesh Shechter Company (2014-2015). She founded Nua Dance in 2015 and has been working professionally as a choreographer for theatre, circus, TV and film since. Some of her creations include QUIMERA(2019) and NOISE (BBC film 2021, immersive performance 2022) as well as commissions for National Centre for Circus Arts, BA Dance City and the Centres of Advance Training in Swindon and Newcastle.
Biggest Inspiration:Inspiration for Neus’ body of work comes from a curiosity about how we relate as humans to each other and ourselves, and is portrayed through relatable, expressive, and asymmetrical physicality.
