The McOnie Company
The McOnie Company is the hot-blooded dance company with ‘Rock n’ Roll swagger’ (The Observer). The company is led by Olivier Award-winning director and choreographer Drew McOnie, whose work has been described as having ‘the explosive feel of barely contained ecstasy’ (Chicago Times).
The McOnie Company holds a proud association with the Old Vic Theatre and Birmingham REP, and in the future is set to work on an ambitious new series of projects to thrill audiences in both venues.
The company’s productions include the award-winning dance-thriller reimagining of Jekyll and Hyde at the Old Vic Theatre, the dance revue Drunk at the Bridewell Theatre, Making Midnight at Jermyn Street Theatre, Slaughter at The Place and Be Mine at the Robin Howard Theatre.
In 2021 Drew is set to choreograph the Take That film Greatest Days and a new production of Carousel at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, as well as creating a new ballet Merlin for Northern Ballet.
Most recently Drew is the choreographer of Jesus Christ Superstar which returned in summer 2020 in a socially-distanced concert staging at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, and is set to resume its North American tour next year
Other recent work as Director & Choreographer includes King Kong (Broadway), Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom (West End), On The Town (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and Michael John LaChiusa’s The Wild Party (The Other Palace).
