NYB All In! Professional Development

NYB has commissioned two reports, written by NYB All In! Project Manager Natalie Haslam, which we hope will help to inform the wider ballet industry about the power and importance of inclusive ballet practice.

Ballet For All Report

NYB are delighted to share our Ballet For All! Day Report.

The report, written by NYB All In! Project Manager Natalie Haslam, captures the findings from the Ballet For All! Day on 7th July 2025 delivered with Birmingham Royal Ballet, DLG and the wonderful dance artist Suzie Birchwood.

The report highlights the key findings from the day, and captures some really engaging feedback inspired by Suzie’s thoughtful provocations.

It also sets out some clear next steps and recommendations which we hope to be able to build on through the work of the ABC Collective.

We hope that you enjoy reading it. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact jo.meredith@nationalyouthballet.org

NYB All In! Pre-Vocational and Vocational Ballet Report – April 2025

The NYB All In! Pre-Vocational and Vocational Ballet Report highlights the challenges that young disabled dance artists have faced in accessing ballet training and shares their ideas for making it more inclusive. The report was created by Natalie Haslam, NYB All In! Project Manager.

The research aimed to explore the question:

“How can ballet be taught in a more inclusive way at pre-vocational and vocational level?”

The report includes young disabled dancer’s feedback to this question and outlines areas where change is needed, it also shares practical recommendations for schools and organisations on how to make early-stage dance training more accessible.

NYB  will use this report to shape our practice and hope our report helps schools and organisations better support young disabled dancers right from the start of their journey.

“We gathered a group of young disabled dance artists to explore how we could make our work—and that of training courses—more accessible. We hope this report will be useful to young dancers and schools alike.”
Jo Meredith, NYB Creative Director
