National Youth Ballet is Seeking a New Chair of Trustees
National Youth Ballet is a registered charity that has grown from a single founder’s vision into one of the UK’s leading youth arts organisations. Each year, NYB works with over 500 young people across the UK, giving them life-changing opportunities to take part in, create and perform classical and contemporary ballet. Programmes include our Residential Performance and NYB All In! companies, regional creative workshops, Beyond Ballet® for early career artists, NYB All In! inclusive classes and Moving Minds to nurture health and wellbeing. NYB is a small charity with a huge ambition and impact.
This is an exciting opportunity for a new Chair to provide dynamic leadership to the board and work closely with the Chief Executive and Creative Director on the next strategy. We are looking for an inspiring leader, with strong board or senior executive leadership experience in a charity, public body or comparable organisation setting, strategic thinking, and a real passion for our mission. A genuine commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity and the transformative power of the arts is essential.
The time commitment for the Chair is a minimum of two to three days a month. The term of office is three years, renewable once by agreement with the board. The board meets four times a year, supported by three quarterly committees covering safeguarding, ESG and finance. The position is unremunerated; reasonable expenses and access costs reimbursed.
NYB actively encourages applications from people underrepresented in arts governance, and will make reasonable adjustments at every stage of the process. All applicants are subject to a DBS check before appointment.
