2026 Auditions

National Youth Ballet is thrilled to announce that auditions are now open for our two inspiring summer courses, the Residential Performance Company and the Residential Performance Company Intensive

Both courses offer an unforgettable opportunity for young dancers to create, collaborate, perform and learn from world-class creatives and like-minded young artists who share their passion for dance.

How to apply:

Auditions will take place across the UK with both in-person and online options to make the process more accessible.

Whether you’re returning to NYB or joining us for the first time, this is a chance to grow as a performer, collaborate with professional creatives, and be part of a national community of young dancers.

If you wish to be considered for either the Residential Performance Company and/or the Residential Performance Company Intensive you must attend one of the following auditions.

Audition places are booked on a first come first served basis and each class has a maximum capacity of 25 dancers.

Non-refundable audition fee: £50

What does our audition include?

Moving Minds:

We understand that auditions can be an intimidating process for young dancers, but they are also a key part of life as a professional dancer. To enhance dancers’ skills, our Moving Minds team will provide a short workshop before the audition to help each participant perform to their full potential.

Ballet class:

Dancers will participate in a 60-minute ballet class with a professional teacher designed to showcase their technical and artistic abilities.

Contemporary phrase/task:

Dancers will have the opportunity to learn and perform a short piece of contemporary work and showcase their creative skills.

Online (Zoom) audition:

In addition to the above, we require those who audition via zoom to upload a recording of three sections of the audition (instructions and help will be provided prior to the audition). This can be recorded on a phone or similar device and does not need to be professionally recorded.

The reason for this is that we are recording exactly the same sections of the classes at each audition and will be used for internal purposes only.

Please note that all auditions will be filmed for internal use only.

In the event that the audition for your age group is sold out, please attend an audition at an alternative location where possible. If another location is not possible for you, please book into the closest age group at the venue you wish to attend and contact us using the email below.

For those taking part in London Children’s Ballet – Sunday 22 February 2026 has been mutually agreed by both organisations to avoid any potential rehearsal clashes. We kindly ask any dancer involved in LCB, who also wishes to audition for NYB, to please attend the NYB auditions on Sunday 22 February 2026.

All auditions are held in level access venues with accessible toilets. We are working to ensure that all venues have a quiet space, and our team are trained to support inclusion and access during sessions. All auditionees will receive an easy read information pack a week before their audition.

When booking your place we’ll ask you to tell us about any additional access requirements you may have. We’d appreciate it if you could let us know at least two weeks before the audition so that we can do our best to ensure that all access provision is in place.
